North Dakota Plans to Launch State-Issued Stablecoin

According to BlockBeats, North Dakota is preparing to become the second U.S. state to issue a stablecoin, following Wyoming's lead. The stablecoin, named "Roughrider Coin," is initially intended for interbank transactions as part of a broader exploration of digital tokens within the U.S. financial system. The Roughrider Coin is named after the volunteer cavalry led by Theodore Roosevelt during the Spanish-American War. It is expected to be launched next year by the Bank of North Dakota, the only state-owned bank in the United States, in collaboration with Fiserv Inc. The Bank of North Dakota primarily works with over 80 community banks and credit unions across the state to support agricultural lending.
