Introducing Ink's Mascot
Crypto exchange Kraken is inviting its community to help name the new mascot for Ink, its Ethereum Layer 2 network.
The campaign, announced Thursday, offers users a chance to earn rewards by submitting and voting on names for the cartoon monster that will represent Ink.
Kraken has partnered with Jokerace, a blockchain-based contest platform, to facilitate the naming competition.
Kraken unveiled the yet-unnamed mascot on X, describing the character as a purple, spiky creature who has become the center of attention but remains nameless.
The playful introduction sets the stage for community participation, with Kraken encouraging users to give the mascot its identity as the face of the Optimism-based Ink network.
How the Jokerace Contest Works
Jokerace, founded in 2022 by David Phelps and Siobhán McCaffery, specializes in no-code, onchain contests across more than 90 EVM-compatible blockchains.
Users can vote on the results of anything, from governance decisions, hackathon results, grant fundings, and other community events.
The platform is known for its sybil-resistant voting system, where participants pay per vote to prevent spam, and its ability to execute onchain actions such as token transfers or DAO proposals based on contest results.
Jokerace supports two main contest formats: "enter-and-earn," where users earn rewards for submitting winning entries, and "vote-and-earn," which pays participants for voting on winners.
This model, described by Phelps as a "persuasion market" or "vibe market," rewards users for curating internet content and community decisions.
The platform has previously been used by projects like Polygon, Farcaster, and The Block.
Jokerace has attracted significant attention in the Web3 space, securing a $3 million funding round led by Maven 11 in July 2024.
The funding is aimed at expanding the platform’s marketing and business development initiatives. With over 100 angel investors, Jokerace continues to innovate in the field of onchain community engagement.
