China’s AI powerhouse, DeepSeek, has announced a major upgrade to its flagship chatbot—DeepSeek-R1-0528, promising next-level logic, mathematical reasoning, and programming prowess.

The startup claims that its model's overall performance is now on par with global leaders like OpenAI’s ChatGPT's O3 model and Google’s Gemini 2.5 Pro.

Since its debut in January, DeepSeek’s R1 chatbot has made waves across the industry.

Trained at a fraction of the cost of its Western counterparts—just $6 million—R1 has proven that innovation doesn’t always require massive capital.

As of April, DeepSeek’s app has been downloaded a staggering 75 million times, boasting 38 million monthly active users (MAU), according to Business of Apps.
