Trump Slams Calls Musk Crazy For His Attempts To Take Over The Congress
U.S. President Donald Trump is called billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk completely mad after Musk announced his plans to form a new political party "The America Party" aiming to break the conventional two-party system in the United States.
On Sunday, just hours after Musk declared the launch of his party, Trump took to his Truth Social platform to express his disapproval.
“I am saddened to watch Elon Musk go completely ‘off the rails, essentially becoming a TRAIN WRECK over the past five weeks.”
Trump went on to question Musk’s decision to start a third party, noting how America seems to be pretty repulsive of a third party and people who tried to start one in the past have all failed.
Just after Musk announced the launch of his new political party, the shares of Tesla plunged 6.79%.
Musk has outlined a focused strategy for the America Party, posting on X that the movement will concentrate on winning a handful of critical House and Senate seats.
He argued that by targeting just two or three Senate races and eight to ten House districts, the party could hold the balance of power in Congress, blocking both Republican and Democratic agendas as needed.
“Given the razor-thin legislative margins, that would be enough to serve as the deciding vote on contentious laws, ensuring that they serve the true will of the people.”
Elon Musk also recently announced that his new party would be embracing Bitcoin. This comes in response to a fan who asked if Musk's American Party would embrace Bitcoin, which Musk replied
"Fiat is hopeless, so yes."
Beyond Bitcoin, Musk has also been very closely associated to the Dogecoin. With a single tweet, Musk had the ability to make the price of dogecoin either rally or crash.
Musk’s Third Party Bid Raises Concerns of Republican Vote Fracture
Musk’s announcement of a third party have sparked fears among Republicans that this third party might dillute the Republican's vote in the next midterm election, potentially threatening the party's slim majority in Congress.
While third parties have occasionally found success at the state and local level, no third party has won a presidential election since the Republicans emerged as a major force in 1856.
Musk made his intentions clear on his X platform, stating the America Party would become a reality if Congress passed Trump’s sweeping tax and spending bill, which unfortunately became reality last Thursday.
Following Musk’s post, several political groups referencing the America Party, DOGE, or X were registered with the Federal Election Commission, though Musk clarified that at least one filing was fake and the legitimacy of others remains in question.
The tension between the two high-profile figures started exploding over the "One Big, Beautiful Bill", where Musk called "a disgusting abomination” due to its projected $3.3 trillion addition to the national debt over the next decade.
Before the bill’s was passed, Musk even threatened to unseat any lawmakers who supported and voted for the bill, vowing
“They would lose their primary next year if it is the last thing I do on this Earth.”
This public dispute between Musk and Trump started in late May, just before May finished up his stint as a special government employee at the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
Musk contends that the new spending bill undermines the cost-cutting objectives of DOGE, which was named as a nod to the Dogecoin cryptocurrency.
