Oh Sang-rok, CEO of Seoul- and Tokyo-based crypto investment firm Hyperithm, has received a rare invitation to an exclusive private dinner with U.S. President Donald Trump on May 22.
With a wallet holding of approximately $3 million worth of $Trump token, he is the 13th-largest holder of the token and the first Korean to win an exclusive dinner with President Trump.
The event, held at Trump National Golf Club in Washington, D.C., is reserved for just 25 individuals worldwide-each selected based on their weighted holdings of Trump’s meme coin, $TRUMP, between its January 17 launch and May 12.
A veteran crypto trader
The Trump memecoin propelled by viral internet culture and presidential branding, has captured significant attention from fans and lawmakers alike. Just like most meme coins, the token lacks underlying technical innovation or utility.
Its value is driven purely by social media buzz and speculative trading, often resulting in wild price swings. Days after its launch, the token reached a sky high price only to come right crashing down days later.
But what sets Oh Sang-rok apart is he isn't just any ordinary celebrity trader or retail speculator. Oh is actually a seasoned veteran in cryto-trader, with a background in merger and acquisition at Morgan Stanley's Seoul office.
In 2018, Oh co-founded his own crypto investment company, Hyperithm. Hyperithm has maintained profitability through major industry downturns-including the FTX and Terra-Luna collapses-setting it apart from many peers in the volatile digital asset space.
Hyperithm’s strategy has always focused on institutional clients, launching first in Japan where crypto investing is legally recognized for financial institutions.
The firm now partners with banks, securities companies, and funds across Asia and the U.S., and has attracted investment from global heavyweights like Coinbase Ventures and GS Futures.
Oh has been a strong voice and advocate for crypto adoption in South Korea and how the country should modernise its crypto regulations and integrate digital assets into the country’s broader economic strategy.
This aligns with his vision of making crypto be the foundational financial infrastructure rather than just a speculative trend in both South Korea and beyond.
Other winners of the contest
Oh’s invitation to Trump’s $TRUMP holder dinner underscores the growing intersection of institutional finance and the fast-evolving world of digital assets.
Meanwhile, the top holders of TRUMP is known to be Justin Sun, Founder of TRON. It is also reported that the CEO of Bitmart, the founder of Synthetix, and the co-founder of Singapore MemeCore are also all included in the invitee list.
