Bitcoin 2024 Amsterdam Conference: OKX Exchange announces "funding" of Bitcoin 2140 Developer Foundation!

FX168 Financial News Agency (North America) reported that OKX, a major cryptocurrency exchange and global Web3 technology company, announced on Thursday (October 10) that it would provide funding to the Bitcoin Developer Foundation 2140 Foundation. The funds will support the foundation's efforts over the years to promote the long-term security, resilience and maintainability of the Bitcoin network through continuous development, innovation and collaboration between developers and contributors.
2140 Foundation founders Ruben Somsen and Josie Baker announced the grant at the Bitcoin Amsterdam 2024 conference held at Westergas in Amsterdam.

In conjunction with the event, OKX will offer a €50 Bitcoin sign-up bonus to every new Dutch customer who trades at least €100 in crypto during Amsterdam Bitcoin Week, which begins on October 7 and ends on October 13. The event is designed to encourage wider participation in the cryptocurrency ecosystem and demonstrate OKX’s ongoing commitment to the Dutch market.
“This grant to the 2140 Foundation underscores our long-standing commitment to nurturing the Bitcoin ecosystem and supporting innovative projects to expand Bitcoin’s utility,” said Roy van Krimpen, OKX Regional Manager for Western Europe and the Mediterranean.
“As we continue to build our local platform to meet the needs of our Dutch customers, we are excited to support the growth of the Bitcoin developer community in the country and beyond, while also providing Dutch customers with attractive incentives to join our platform,” he continued.
Since officially launching its exchange and on-chain wallet in the Netherlands, OKX now offers Dutch customers spot trading and exchange services for over 170 cryptocurrencies, including 61 crypto-EUR pairs. The platform’s integration with iDEAL and SEPA enables free and instant deposits and withdrawals in EUR.
Additionally, the OKX wallet is a gateway to the on-chain world, enabling users to fully custody digital assets on over 100 chains.
This grant, along with OKX’s sponsorship of Bitcoin Amsterdam 2024, highlights its long-term dedication to the Bitcoin ecosystem.
OKX has long supported Bitcoin’s development, integrating the Lightning Network more than two years ago to enable faster Bitcoin transactions.
Since 2019, OKX has issued nearly $2 million in Bitcoin developer grants as part of its ongoing grantmaking program, focusing on growing the developer ecosystem and efforts around security and adoption.
OKX’s ongoing Ordinals World Tour, OKX Wallet’s support for emerging Bitcoin standards like Runes and Fractal Bitcoin, and the recent launch of OKX OS, a Bitcoin-friendly on-chain infrastructure suite, solidify its position as a key player in advancing the Bitcoin ecosystem.
