Hong Kong Influencer Sentenced for Unlicensed Investment Advice

According to PANews, Hong Kong's Eastern Magistrates' Court has sentenced financial influencer Zhou Boxian to six weeks in prison for providing investment advice without a license. Zhou managed a subscription-based chat group on social media, offering investment tips, which led to his conviction. This case marks the first instance in Hong Kong where someone has been imprisoned for unlicensed investment advice. The Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission revealed that Zhou earned a total of 43,680 Hong Kong dollars from group members. Authorities have pledged to continue cracking down on illegal activities by financial influencers and hold them accountable.
