With Donald Trump’s recent victory over Kamala Harris, the world has shifted their attention to his anticipated cabinet lineup, which will play a crucial role in Trump to fulfill all the promises he had made to the crypto community. Trump’s agenda requires skilled leaders across trade, economy, diplomacy, and border security, aligned with his vision for the nation.
Let's take a quick overview of all the potential candidates for key positions in Trump’s administration, including Dan Gallagher, expected to chair the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC); Scott Bessent, likely Treasury Secretary; Senator Marco Rubio as a potential Secretary of State; and Representative Mike Waltz, expected as National Security Advisor, and what would they beign in the cabinet mean for crypto.
Musk and Ramaswamy spearheading the Department of Government Efficiency
Tesla CEO Elon Musk and Republican candidate Vivek Ramaswamy need no introduction. The duo are poised to be leading the newly proposed Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
Trump said Musk and Ramaswamy will "pave the way for my Administration to dismantle Government Bureaucracy, slash excess regulations, cut wasteful expenditures, and restructure Federal Agencies," which he called essential to save the America Movement.
With Musk's pro-crypto stance, him being in the cabinet would be a reassuring sign for the crypto community.
Dan Gallagher expected to free America from the regulation shackles
Dan Gallagher is one of the most important members that the crypto community would be watching during Trump's new administration.
One of the first things Trump has vowed to do after he enters the office is to fire the SEC chairman Gary Gensler, and replace him with a pro-crypto chair who would establish a Presidential Advisory Committe for Bitcoin and crypto regulation.
And there is no one better than Dan Gallagher, the Chief Legal officer at Robinhood and former SEC commissioner. Gallagher has been a strong spokesman for crypto, where he had repeatedly criticized the existing SEC enforcement policies for hindering crypto innovation.
As the new chairman of SEC, we can expect Gallagher to help the country to create greater regulation clarity for the crypto landscape.
Scott Bessentwill hold one of the most powerful positions in the Trump Administration
Hedge fund manager Scott Bessent is a currently the top contender to take on one of the most powerful positions in the Trump Administration-The Treasury Secretary.
His role is equivocal key economic advisor to Trump, which would fit his expertise given his experience in finance and his pro-crypto stance and helping Trump to fulfill his goals in crypto.
Bessent once said
"I am excited about the President's acceptance of cryptocurrencies. I think it fits very well with the Republican Party. Cryptocurrency represents freedom, and the cryptocurrency economy will continue to exist."
According to sources, Becent had met with Trump. When Becent was recently asked during a CNBC interview if he would be joining the Trump administration, he replied that he would do anything according to President Trump's requests.
Foe turned friend
Senator Marco Rubio will be expected to take on the role as the Secretary of State. The selection officially brings Rubio into Trump's fold and offers a new chapter in the evolving relationship between the former rivals for the 2016 Republican presidential nominations.
In the years since, Rubio has became a close adviser to Trump on foreign relations, advocating diplomatic solutions in global conflicts like the Russia-Ukraine war.
His role would likely emphasize negotiations to promote stability in contested regions while reinforcing U.S. influence.
Mike Waltz speculated to be the National Security Advisor
The Associated Press has once reported that Trump has invited Rep. Mike Waltz, a military veteran and respected House member to serve as National Security Advisor.
As national security adviser, Rep. Mike Waltz will play an integral role in shaping U.S policy on geopolitical conflicts ranging from the war in Ukraine to the war between Israel and Hamas in Gaza.
He previously served as the Chairman of the House of Representatives Military Warfare Subcommittee, Member of the House Foreign AffairsCommittee and the Permanent intelligence Special Committee.
Known for his strong defense views and critiques of foreign policy, Waltz has highlighted China’s strategic threat to the U.S. His appointment would likely lead to a fortified stance on national defense and enhanced cybersecurity measures.
Trump's personal pick, Elise Stefanik
Rep. Elise Stefanik is one of the few candidates who were personally picked by President Trump. She was once described by Trump as "an extremely strong, tough and intelligent American priority fighter."
She was selected by Trump to take on the role as the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations. Stefanik is a vocal advocate of “America First” policies, which echos Trump’s goal of assertive U.S. diplomacy at the UN.
Tom Homan elected as the new border czar
Former ICE Director Tom Homan will return to the office together with President Trump as the 'border czar".
Trump announced in a post on Truth Social that Homan's role will cover the Southern and Northern U.S. Borders, as well as "all Maritime and Aviation Security."
Praised by Trump as the Ice Maiden
Susie Wiles, a key architect of Trump’s 2024 campaign, will serve as the first female White House Chief of Staff. Wiles is expected to lead strategy development for Trump’s first 100 days, focusing on policy rollouts and legislative agenda priorities.
Trump once called Wiles the Ice Maiden, for devoted administration of the Trump's campaign despite making little to no appearance throughout the whole race.
"Susie likes to stay sort of in the back, let me tell you. The Ice Maiden. We call her the Ice Maiden."
