Mediacorp has landed a monumental partnership with Korean production house Mr. Romance, who is behind the hit K-dramas such as Light Shop and Moving.
This collaboration marks a significant step forward for the content creation scene in both countries, promising to blend the best of Singapore and Korean creative talent for audiences worldwide.
The partnership was formalized at the 18th Busan Content Market on May 28, where both companies signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to deepen their cooperation.
Under this agreement, Mediacorp and Mr.Romance will work together on a range of joint projects, including the production, distribution, and promotion of international content.
Plans are already in motion for potential Korean drama co-productions, bringing together creative and production teams from both countries, and facilitating exchanges of on-screen talent between Singapore and South Korea for future endeavors.
Virginia Lim, Chief Content Officer of Mediacorp, highlighted the significance of the partnership, saying,
“Collaborating with esteemed industry partners like Mr.Romance marks a bold step forward in redefining creative storytelling for a global audience. "
"By combining Singapore’s vibrant multicultural perspectives with South Korea’s unparalleled expertise in entertainment innovation, this MOU establishes a powerful platform for co-production, cross-cultural exchange, talent development, and showcasing the very best of Asian creativity to the world.”
Sean Saeyoon Shim, CEO and founder of Mr.Romance, echoed this enthusiasm, stating, “Mediacorp has long been a leader in creating stories that travel beyond borders.
At Mr.Romance, we’re thrilled to be partnering with such a visionary team to bring forth international co-productions as well as various collaborations.
With Mediacorp’s global reach and creative excellence, we believe our collaborative projects will reach audiences across the world.”
This MOU with Mr.Romance is the latest in Mediacorp’s ongoing strategy to strengthen ties with leading content producers across Asia.
Mediacorp has previously collaborated with other international production house such as Shanghai-based Linmon Media and Taiwan’s Three Giant Production and Mission International, reflecting its commitment to fostering a dynamic and interconnected Asian entertainment landscape.
As the line between local and international content continues to blur, this new partnership stands as a testament to the power of cross-border cooperation in shaping the future of storytelling.
