FTX Fallout Goes Hollywood in Netflix’s New Biopic Series
Netflix is moving forward with a dramatised series chronicling the rise and fall of FTX, centering on the relationship between disgraced executives Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF) and Caroline Ellison.
The project, in development for over a year, is gaining momentum, according to What’s on Netflix.
Emmy winner Julia Garner is reportedly in talks to portray Ellison and would also serve as an executive producer.
Known for standout performances in Ozark, Inventing Anna, and Dirty John, Garner is also slated to appear in upcoming titles like Weapons and Marvel’s Fantastic Four.
Actor Evan Peters, best known for American Horror Story and Dahmer, was previously in negotiations to play SBF though his involvement remains unconfirmed.
While casting has yet to be officially announced, the series is expected to span eight episodes and begin filming this summer.
Sources suggest the narrative will focus on the pair’s personal and professional entanglements, using their relationship as a lens to explore FTX’s dramatic collapse.
FTX Story Draws Major Interest Beyond Netflix
Netflix’s upcoming FTX series boasts an impressive creative lineup, with Oscar-winner Graham Moore (The Imitation Game, The Outfit) serving as writer, executive producer, and co-showrunner alongside Jacqueline Hoyt (The Leftovers, The Good Wife).
The Obamas’ Higher Ground Productions is also on board as executive producer, underscoring the project’s high-profile backing.
But Netflix is not alone in chasing the FTX story.
What’s on Netflix reports that Amazon Prime Video is developing a separate project, while Apple Studios and A24 are adapting Michael Lewis’s Going Infinite into a feature film.
Meanwhile, Vice Media and The Information are collaborating on a documentary.
With filming slated to begin this summer, Netflix is expected to share more details soon.
