Montenegrin police arrest Roman Zimian, co-founder of FutureNet, suspected of $21 million crypto fraud project

The Montenegro Police Department announced on August 18 that after several months of searches, the anti-crime unit - FAST Interpol Targeted International Arrest Team (NCB Interpol Podgorica) successfully arrested a 51-year-old Polish citizen, Roman Kazimierz Ziemian.

Arrested Polish citizen Roman Zimian, co-founder of FutureNet

Roman Kazimierz Ziemian is one of the founders and owners of the FutureNet fund, which was founded by Roman Kazimierz Ziemian and Stephan Morgenstern and engages in digital and cryptocurrency trading.
This Polish-based platform was launched in 2014, and Roman and Stefan later launched a new platform - FutureAdPRO and created a new e-currency FuturoCoin.

Roman Zimian faces multiple charges

Roman Zimian and his business partner Stefan Morgenstern are suspected of defrauding dozens of people in Poland and South Korea out of a total of approximately $21 million.
Police said he was suspected of economic crimes, including serious large-scale fraud, money laundering, theft and illegal conduct, which are punishable by life imprisonment in South Korea.
According to police, his partner Stefan Morgenstern was arrested in Albania," while Roman Zimian was previously arrested in Italy in 2022 but later escaped house arrest there.

Roman Zimian arrested again, faces extradition

On August 17, officers from NCB Interpol Podgorica arrested Zimian at the Master Quarter, a new apartment building in Podgorica, where he was hiding under a false identity.
After confirming his identity with Stefan Morgenstern, the police conducted a search of the place where Roman Zimian lived.
At the time, officers from the Crime Unit (High-Tech Crime Group and Regional Security Center) seized technical equipment and items suspected of originating from criminal offences.
The equipment was temporarily seized pending the completion of extradition proceedings.
Police said he would be brought before an investigating judge at the Podgorica High Court to order his extradition into custody.
