How should we cope with the impact of AI?

A reader mentioned two articles that have been widely discussed online recently: "The 2028 Global Intelligent Crisis" and "The 2028 Global Intelligence Boom"....... I skimmed through these two articles when they were first published, but my reaction wasn't as intense as many readers online had reported. There are probably two reasons for this: First, a blogger in a private domain technology course I regularly listen to predicted several years ago that the world might be facing a super financial crisis. He believes the most likely time for the crisis to erupt is 2029, followed by 2028. As for the trigger point, he believes the most prominent element will be artificial intelligence, followed by encryption technology and crypto assets. Secondly, the various self-media articles I read often touch on similar topics, such as how artificial intelligence will disrupt our lives and break our current lifestyle. Perhaps because I've seen and heard so much of this kind of analysis, I don't feel as strongly about similar articles anymore. I agree with the statement that the fundamental driving force mentioned in these two articles—the development of AI—will make "intelligence" incredibly abundant and therefore incredibly cheap. However, I cannot comment on the subsequent "plot" and conclusions derived from this in the articles. This is because my own judgment on the development of AI often changes; perhaps tomorrow I will deny today's viewpoint. The development of AI is happening so fast that articles like this will only become more frequent. These kinds of articles easily induce feelings of depression and anxiety, as I used to feel. But now, I'm willing to think a step further: besides depression and anxiety, what remains constant in the development of AI? What will become increasingly stronger? How should we ordinary people cope with these changes, especially these impacts? What is unchanging? The development of AI has no upper limit in the virtual space, possessing potential that we may not even be able to imagine now. However, on the other hand, in the physical realm, it is greatly limited: it is constrained by hardware conditions, physical space, and energy limitations. Therefore, at least in the next four to five years, hardware limitations, physical space, and energy constraints will be the bottlenecks to AI development. This is also a key focus that I am increasingly concerned about. What will become increasingly pronounced? The trend I can see is that the gap between the rich and poor will become increasingly widening. Of course, in the AI ​​era, "poverty" may not necessarily mean a lack of food and clothing, but rather a lack of readily available, value-generating resources and assets. The future society may well support a large group of "zombie" individuals who lead unproductive lives, living like zombies. Their basic survival will be guaranteed by the state, but beyond that, they will be completely unable to enjoy the new "services" and "products" that society offers, and they will be utterly unable to imagine the lives of people in other social strata. So, how can ordinary people like us try to cope with these changes and impacts? From my perspective, I think two things are most suitable for me: First, I must do everything possible to manage my cash flow. I've always emphasized in my articles that we should prepare 18 months' worth of living expenses to ensure we have a buffer period of a year and a half after losing our jobs. Now, I think it's best to have even longer. Secondly, once I have spare money, without affecting my lifestyle, I will try my best to invest it all. I will invest in assets and resources for the AI ​​era. The control of assets and resources has always been an insurmountable gap between different social classes in any era, but in the future AI era, the depth and breadth of this gap will likely be unimaginably greater. Furthermore, I'm referring to investing, not speculating, here. Investing is about the long term, looking at the potential situation three to five years from now. Only buy what you understand, what you don't need to worry about while you sleep, and what won't make you panic if the price drops. Speculation is about the short term, chasing trends and hot topics. In the AI ​​era, trending topics are emerging and updating more and more frequently. AI can disrupt software today, SaaS the day after tomorrow, security the day after that, and platforms next week… Following these trends at this pace is something only geniuses could do. In the AI ​​era, it's normal to feel anxious and uneasy when encountering new changes and information. However, if we can calm down and think ahead, we can find things that are more meaningful and of greater practical value to ourselves.
