In a turn of events, renowned video game developer Insomniac Games, famed for the Marvel’s Spider-Man series, has fallen victim to a hacking incident.
The hacking group Rhysida has demanded a ransom of 50 Bitcoin (approximately US$2 million), threatening to release sensitive information about the upcoming Marvel’s Wolverine game if the payment is not made within seven days.
The hackers declared:
"With just 7 days on the clock, seize the opportunity to bid on exclusive, unique, and impressive data… Open your wallets and be ready to buy exclusive data. We sell only to one hand, no reselling, you will be the only owner."

Rhysida has already shared limited data to substantiate their claim, including an annotated screenshot from Marvel’s Wolverine and character art associated with other Marvel characters.
The leaked data extends to passport scans of Insomniac employees, personal documents of voice actor Yuri Lowenthal, and internal emails with signed confidential documents.

Leveraging the stolen data, Rhysida has initiated an auction with a starting price of 50 BTC, emphasising exclusivity and significance.
The group urges potential buyers to bid before the full data set is made public, creating tension within the gaming and Bitcoin community.
As the deadline approaches, there is anticipation for a swift resolution to safeguard Marvel’s Wolverine while holding the perpetrators accountable.
Bitcoin Market Status
Bitcoin (BTC), trading at $41,300, faces a period of sideways movement with a 1.3% decline in the past 24 hours, contributing to a 1.9% drop over the previous seven days.
The situation continues to unfold, with Insomniac Games yet to release an official statement regarding the cyber attack and ransom demand.
