For the first time since May 2023, the Bitcoin Core maintainers have increased the number of trusted key holders with commit permissions to the main branch. On January 8, 2026, developer TheCharlatan joined the ranks of holders, bringing the total number of trusted key holders to six. The other five members are Marco Falke, Gloria Zhao, Ryan Ofsky, Hennadii Stepanov, and Ava Chow. TheCharlatan, a graduate of the University of Zurich, is primarily responsible for the repeatable build and verification logic of Bitcoin Core. Currently, the Bitcoin Core community only recognizes these six PGP keys with commit permissions. (Protos)
