Tether announced a joint initiative with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) to promote public education on cybersecurity and digital asset security in Africa. UNODC is a global leader in combating illicit drugs, transnational organized crime, terrorism, and corruption. Africa, as the world's third-largest and fastest-growing region for cryptocurrencies, is increasingly vulnerable to digital asset scams and fraud. A recent Interpol operation in Africa, which seized $260 million worth of illicit cryptocurrency and fiat currency, underscores the urgent need for stronger cybersecurity in the continent to combat cybercrime.
