Expectations of a Bank of Japan rate hike have cooled, with the yen weakening in the morning

The yen weakened against most G20 and Asian currencies in early trading as expectations for a Bank of Japan rate hike continued to cool. "In the short term, the market's focus will be on the pressures facing the Bank of Japan," Chris Turner of ING said in a research note. The market currently sees only a 20% chance of a rate hike at this month's meeting. A delay until next year or even later would further pressure the yen. (Jinshi)
