Data: Korean won crypto trading volume will reach $663 billion in 2025, second only to the US dollar

Odaily Planet Daily News Kaiko data shows that as of this month in 2025, the Korean won (KRW)-denominated crypto trading volume reached $663 billion, following the US dollar ($832 billion) to become the world's second largest cryptocurrency market. About a third of adults in South Korea hold crypto assets, twice as many as in the United States, showing that its influence in politics and the economy continues to grow. However, structural problems such as market fragmentation, low adoption of stablecoins, and "Kimchi premium" still restrict institutional participation and product innovation.
