CZ hearing judge: Disagree with the US Department of Justice's request to extend the sentence to 3 years

Judge Richard Jones, who heard CZ's case, said he disagreed with the DOJ's request for a sentencing enhancement to increase CZ's prison term from 18 months to three years because "there was no evidence that the defendant was ever informed" of the illegal activity. DOJ lawyers argued that the judge should be able to infer that CZ knew about the illegal activity, citing a previous case in which a judge inferred that a defendant knew about illegal activity.
