According to PANews, OpenAI has responded to Elon Musk's previously mentioned lawsuit on March 6th. The company stated that Musk initiated the attack because he failed in his attempt to bring OpenAI under Tesla's umbrella. OpenAI pointed out that building Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) requires far more resources than initially anticipated, and both the company and Musk realized that creating a profitable entity is necessary to obtain these resources.
OpenAI further stated that both Musk and the company agree that achieving the original intention of the company's founding, allowing everyone to benefit from the achievements of artificial intelligence, can be done by building widely available AI tools to benefit humanity, without necessarily open-sourcing AGI.
