AI-Related Tokens Rally as OpenAI Unveils Text-to-Video Generator Sora

According to CoinDesk, artificial intelligence (AI) related tokens experienced a significant boost over the weekend following the unveiling of OpenAI's text-to-video generator Sora. Sector tokens saw an average increase of 7.7% in the past 24 hours, with Ocean Protocol's OCEAN and Fetch.AI's FET rising more than 10%. Worldcoin's WLD, the highest among all AI tokens, surged 30%, setting a new lifetime peak at $7. The parent company of Worldcoin was founded by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, leading some traders to view WLD as a bet on the growth of the latter company. Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin's tweet about AI potentially being used for auditing smart contracts contributed to the rise of lesser-known tokens 0x0 and TokenFi's TOKEN by up to 15%. Interest in AI-related tokens first spiked in early 2023 with the growing popularity of ChatGPT and image generation software. The recent launch of Sora has reignited this interest. Despite the hype, some developers have expressed concerns about the practical usage of tokens in AI systems, citing unanswered challenges and questions about infrastructure, user experience, and data training.
