Valkyrie has added BitGo as the custodian of its spot Bitcoin exchange-traded fund, according to a regulatory filing published on Thursday.
Valkyrie said it still plans to keep Coinbase Trust Company as custodian. “The sponsor is expected to utilize the custody services of Coinbase and BitGo to host the trust’s Bitcoins,” Valkyrie said.
Many SEC-approved spot Bitcoin ETFs list Coinbase as their custodian, including BlackRock, Bitwise and Ark21. The Hashdex Spot Bitcoin ETF, which was also approved last month, lists BitGo as its custodian.
BitGo CEO Mike Belshe posted on X that Valkyrie’s addition of his company as a custodian is a big win for the industry. Belshe said on Thursday: “Valkyrie has added BitGo as the custodian of their Bitcoin ETF. This is a huge win for the industry as we work together to protect their assets.”
