According to Decrypt, crypto game publisher and metaverse investor Animoca Brands has announced a collaboration with Ethereum scaling protocol LightLink to integrate gasless transactions into selected games. LightLink is a layer-2 scaling network built on Ethereum, enabling creators of decentralized applications (dapps) to offer users instant transactions without any gas fees. As part of the agreement, Animoca will implement LightLink's fee-less transaction technology into selected games and provide guidance on tokenomics and marketing strategy. The specific games to utilize the technology have not been announced yet.
LightLink co-founder and CEO Roy Hui stated that partnering with industry leader Animoca Brands is a pivotal step in making blockchain more accessible and user-friendly worldwide. Animoca co-founder and Executive Chairman Yat Siu added that the collaboration will bring them closer to a frictionless Web3 world. LightLink is currently being used by over 25 companies and projects, including blockchain-based games Grapes and The Red Village. Both Animoca and LightLink aim to foster greater interconnectivity in blockchain-based applications and improve mainstream adoption. Animoca Brands is the publisher behind games like metaverse platform The Sandbox, NFT fighting game Wreck League, fantasy-themed chess game Anichess, and the upcoming Mocaverse community. The company has also invested in prominent crypto startups such as NFT marketplace OpenSea and NBA Top Shot maker Dapper Labs.
