Google has committed to investing up to $2 billion in artificial intelligence company Anthropic, according to people familiar with the matter. Google has invested $500 million in Anthropic upfront and has agreed to invest an additional $1.5 billion over time. (Wall Street Journal)
According to previous news, Alameda/FTX previously invested approximately US$500 million in Anthropic. In February this year, Google invested $300 million in Anthropic.
In May this year, Anthropic announced the completion of a $450 million Series C round of financing, led by Spark Capital, with participation from Google, Salesforce VC, Sound Ventures, Zoom Ventures and others.
In August, Anthropic announced that it had received an additional US$100 million in investment from South Korean telecommunications giant SK Telecom. In September Anthropic announced that Amazon would invest up to $4 billion in it.
