Odaiy Planet Daily reports that Hyperliquid founder Jeff Yan and his team recently gave a feature interview to Colossos magazine. In the interview, Jeff was asked what the biggest challenge he would face in 2025 was. He didn't mention JellyJelly's attack on JLP, nor did he mention competitors or bodyguards; instead, he mentioned API server issues. Throughout the summer, as Bitcoin broke $100,000, Hyperliquid's monthly trading volume exceeded $400 billion, and the servers connecting market makers to the blockchain began to experience problems. More and more institutions connected, each sending massive amounts of orders, cancellations, and update requests. The infrastructure transmitting this data couldn't keep up, and orders that should have been executed instantly began to be delayed by up to 3 seconds. The blockchain itself didn't crash, and user funds remained safe. But in a market where milliseconds determine victory or defeat, a 3-second delay is a serious problem. Jeff stated that he barely slept during those weeks—falling asleep at 1:30 AM and being woken up at 3 AM because the system was having problems again. Ultimately, the team rewrote the entire server system from the ground up, and the new system withstood the test of the subsequent 1011 extreme market conditions.
