Iran reports on progress of negotiations

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Baghae briefed the media early this morning (April 12) on the progress of negotiations with the United States in Islamabad, Pakistan. According to his briefing, negotiations between Iran and the United States, mediated by Pakistan, began on the morning of April 11 and are still ongoing. The two sides have exchanged a great deal of information, and Iranian negotiators are “doing their utmost to protect Iran’s interests.” The briefing stated that the two sides discussed various aspects of the main negotiating issues, including the Strait of Hormuz, the nuclear issue, war reparations, the lifting of sanctions, and a complete end to the war against Iran and the Middle East. The briefing emphasized that the success of this diplomatic process depends on the sincerity of the United States, whether it makes excessive and illegal demands, and whether it accepts Iran's legitimate rights.
