An OpenAI spokesperson confirmed that San Francisco police arrested a suspect early Friday after he threw a Molotov cocktail at the residence of OpenAI founder and CEO Sam Altman and made threatening behavior outside the AI giant's San Francisco headquarters. OpenAI stated, "Fortunately, no one was injured." The company added, "We are incredibly grateful for the San Francisco Police Department's swift response and for the city government's support in ensuring the safety of our employees. The suspect has been apprehended, and we are assisting police with their investigation." Altman has not yet issued a public statement regarding the arrest. In a separate statement, the San Francisco Police Department said officers responded early Friday to a residence in San Francisco's North Beach area "due to a fire investigation." The suspect fled on foot, and his description has been communicated to all officers. San Francisco police were subsequently called to a store at 1400 Third Street to handle an incident where "an unidentified man threatened to burn down the building." (OpenAI is headquartered at 1455 Third Street) Police stated, "When officers arrived at the scene, they recognized the man as the same suspect from the previous incident and immediately arrested him." The suspect is reportedly a 20-year-old male. (Jinshi)
