The Ethereum Foundation has announced the creation of a dedicated team to support decentralized finance (DeFi) within its App Relations department. According to Odaily, this initiative aims to promote the development of DeFi protocols and strengthen the "DeFipunk" concept.
The new team includes Charles St. Louis, former CEO of DELV and designer of MakerDAO's governance framework, as the DeFi Protocol Specialist. Ivan, co-founder of Gearbox Protocol, will serve as the DeFi Coordinator, with Jason Chaskin leading the overall App Relations efforts.
The Ethereum Foundation envisions DeFi as permissionless, censorship-resistant, privacy-focused, self-custodial, and open-source. It emphasizes supporting projects that truly align with these principles.
Charles St. Louis stated that "DeFipunk" represents a core philosophy where DeFi should not merely be an improved version of traditional finance but a financial system that can only exist on Ethereum.
