U.S. Commerce Secretary Alex Lutnick is facing calls for his resignation from both parties after appearing in a recent batch of documents related to Jeffrey Epstein. California Democratic Senator Adam Schiff accused Lutnick of "lying" about the depth of his relationship with Epstein in a statement Monday. Lutnick had previously attempted to downplay the relationship, stating last year that he had sworn in 2005 never to be in the same room with Epstein again. However, documents recently released by the Justice Department show that Lutnick continued to associate with Epstein afterward. Schiff stated, "Lutnick should resign immediately." Several Democrats, including senior House Oversight Committee member Robert Garcia, have also called for Lutnick's resignation. James Comer, a Kentucky Republican and chairman of the House Oversight Committee, which is leading the Epstein investigation, did not rule out issuing a subpoena to Lutnick, but stated that the committee will currently prioritize unexecuted subpoenas.
