Major Banks Alerted to Potential Data Breach

According to Odaily, major financial institutions including JPMorgan Chase, Citi, and Morgan Stanley have been notified by SitusAMC about a potential data breach involving their client information. SitusAMC, a technology provider for real estate loan and mortgage services to numerous banks and lending institutions, confirmed it was targeted by a cyberattack on November 12. The compromised data pertains to residential mortgage loans. SitusAMC CEO Michael Franco stated that law enforcement has been informed, and efforts are underway to analyze any potentially affected data. FBI Director Kash Patel mentioned that the agency is collaborating closely with impacted organizations to assess the extent of the breach, although no operational disruptions to banking services have been identified so far. A spokesperson for JPMorgan Chase clarified that the bank itself was not directly attacked. SitusAMC holds a significant amount of personal data from loan applications, including sensitive information like social security numbers. Additionally, due to its regulatory compliance services, the company may possess sensitive internal data regarding banks' real estate asset holdings and associated risks.
