Trump blamed the Democratic Party for the 43-day shutdown, accusing them of demanding billions for illegal immigration, which led to significant disruptions such as flight delays, unpaid federal employees, and halted food stamp distributions. Trump also criticized the Affordable Care Act, advocating for healthcare funds to be given directly to citizens to choose their insurance. He called for an end to the "lengthy debate" rule to prevent future shutdowns, emphasizing that the government must not close again. Trump expressed gratitude to Senate Democrats who "did the right thing," as well as Congressional Republican leaders and various industry groups for their support in reopening the government.
