Ghana Plans Cryptocurrency Regulation by Year-End

According to PANews, Ghana's central bank governor, Johnson Asiama, announced plans to implement a law regulating cryptocurrencies and virtual assets by the end of December. Speaking at an International Monetary Fund (IMF) meeting in Washington, Asiama emphasized the importance of strengthening oversight and monitoring of these transactions. He stated that a regulatory framework has been established, and a new bill has been submitted to parliament, aiming for approval by the year's end to enable effective regulation of cryptocurrencies in Ghana. As Africa's largest gold producer, Ghana is forming a new department and developing expertise to support regulatory efforts in this sector.
