Telegram founder Pavel Durov announced that The Open Network (TON) finalizes transactions in just 0.6 seconds, making it the fastest among Layer 1 blockchains. According to BeInCrypto, this places TON far ahead of Bitcoin, which requires about an hour for transaction finality due to its six-confirmation convention. The recent mainnet upgrade reduced TON's finality time to under one second, enhancing its competitive edge. Telegram has also become TON's largest validator, staking approximately 2.2 million TON, valued at $2.9 million, which has raised governance concerns despite boosting transaction throughput.
