Swiss authorities have postponed the automatic exchange of crypto account information with foreign tax agencies, pushing the timeline to at least 2027.

The Crypto-Asset Reporting Framework (CARF), part of a global initiative to curb tax evasion via cryptocurrency, will still be codified into law on 1 January, but its implementation has been delayed.

The Swiss Federal Council and the State Secretariat for International Finance explained that the country’s tax committee “suspended deliberations on the partner states with which Switzerland intends to exchange data in accordance with the CARF.”

Officials emphasised that this postponement does not weaken Switzerland’s commitment to transparency.
