This marks the first instance of a repurchase agreement (Repo) using digital securities, or security tokens, with a central bank within the Eurozone. The announcement details that Societe Generale used bonds issued on the Ethereum public blockchain in 2020 as collateral to exchange with the French central bank for central bank digital currency (CBDC) issued on the DL3S blockchain.
