Ronin, a blockchain platform for games, has announced its migration to Ethereum Layer 2 scheduled for May 12. According to ChainCatcher, this transition will involve a downtime of approximately 10 hours, after which normal operations will resume. The underlying architecture will be built on the OP Stack and will integrate EigenDA for data availability.
Users are advised to unstake RON before the migration date or wait for the system to automatically unstake after the transition. The primary goal of this migration is to leverage Ethereum's security, data availability, and settlement capabilities, while enhancing the Ethereum ecosystem with robust on-chain gaming infrastructure. Ronin serves as the foundational network for popular blockchain games like Axie Infinity and Pixels, marking a significant milestone in its ecosystem development.
Post-migration, the annual inflation rate of RON will decrease from over 20% to below 1%. Additionally, the treasury will benefit from new revenue streams including staking, Sequencer net profits, and increased Marketplace fees, which will rise from 0.5% to 1.25%.
