xAI, Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence company, unveiled its latest AI chatbot, Grok3.
Grok3 is a major leap forward in science, math, and creativity compared to its predecessor.
During the live demonstration, Musk highlighted the chatbot’s dramatic progress, saying, “We’re very excited to show you Grok3, which has leapfrogged its capabilities in a short period of time over the previous generation, Grok2.”
The event attracted nearly 100,000 viewers online, demonstrating the huge popularity of Grok3. Musk also thanked the development team for their hard work: "I feel very honored to work with such an excellent team."
Musk also explained the origin of the name "Grok", saying that it was inspired by Robert Heinlein's science fiction novel "Stranger in a Strange Land".
In the novel, a character who grew up on Mars used the word "grok", which means to fully and deeply understand something.
“Empathy is an important part of understanding,” Musk explained. This is also the core quality that Grok3 pursues - establishing an emotional connection based on deep understanding.
Developing Grok3 was not easy. xAI executives talked about the huge challenges of building the infrastructure required to support such an advanced artificial intelligence system.
“We were on a tight schedule because we wanted to launch Grok3 as soon as possible,” said a team member.
They mentioned that they decided to build their own data center and completed the deployment of the first 100,000 GPUs in just 122 days, setting an industry record.
But the work did not stop there. In the following 92 days, the size of the H100 GPU cluster doubled, and the computing power was significantly improved, providing strong support for the continued optimization of Grok3.
“We’ve used this computing power to continuously improve our products along the way,” executives said.
One of the most striking features of Grok3 is its creativity.
During the demonstration, this AI showed amazing creative talent—it cleverly combined elements of Tetris and Puyo Puyo to design a new game.
This not only demonstrates Grok3’s strength in the field of technology, but also proves its unlimited potential in creative fields such as entertainment and art.
The xAI team said that Grok3 will be updated daily to ensure that it is always at the forefront of technology. This continuous optimization and upgrade mechanism allows Grok3 to continuously break through itself and maintain its leading edge.
In the future, Grok3's creative ability will not only be limited to game design, it may also bring revolutionary changes to film script creation, music production, art design and other fields.

Grok3 is not a single model, but a family of models, each with its own unique features.
Grok3 mini is a streamlined version of the model that provides faster responses, but may compromise accuracy.
The other two versions, Grok3 Reasoning and Grok3 mini Reasoning, are designed to carefully "think" about the problem before giving a solution.
Users can use these reasoning models to solve complex problems through the Grok application.
xAI claims that Grok3 beat GPT-4o in benchmarks such as AIME and GPQA. Among them, AIME mainly tests the model's performance on mathematical problems, while GPQA focuses on doctoral-level scientific problems.
Early versions of Grok3 also achieved competitive results in Chatbot Arena, a crowdsourced testing platform that compares multiple AI models based on user-preferred answers.
In addition, xAI said that Grok3 Inference beat the highest version of o3-mini, o3-mini high, in multiple popular benchmarks.
Musk announced that Grok3 will launch a "voice mode" in the coming weeks. The model will also be integrated into xAI’s enterprise API via the DeepSearch feature.
Grok3 will initially be available to Premium Plus subscribers of the X platform.
A new subscription service called SuperGrok has also been launched for the Grok.com website and the Grok mobile app.
In a few months, xAI plans to open source Grok2, following their usual practice of open sourcing the previous version after the new version is fully launched.
