The Ethereum Foundation announced that its co-sponsored ETH Rangers project has completed its six-month run. This project aimed to fund independent researchers who contribute to the public security of the Ethereum ecosystem. The 17 recipients achieved significant results in vulnerability research, security tool development, threat intelligence, and incident response, including: recovering or freezing over $5.8 million in funds, reporting or logging over 785 vulnerabilities and client-side issues, identifying approximately 100 attackers, providing security education content to over 209,000 users, and handling over 36 security incidents. Furthermore, the project encouraged over 800 teams to participate in security challenges, produced over 80 technical sharing sessions and training sessions, and developed or improved over 7 open-source security tools. The Ethereum Foundation stated that these achievements demonstrate the need for "decentralized defense" for decentralized networks and effectively enhance the overall security and resilience of the Ethereum ecosystem.
