According to Cointelegraph, decentralized exchange dYdX has released its 2025 roadmap, detailing plans to integrate trading with Telegram as the platform grapples with decreasing earnings. The roadmap outlines a series of software enhancements, including a partner fee share, scale and TWAP orders, and designated proposers, all aimed at reducing end-to-end trading latency. In a strategic move, dYdX intends to introduce Telegram-based trading in September, following its acquisition of Pocket Protector, a social trading application, in July. This acquisition also saw Pocket Protector's co-founder, Eddie Zhang, join dYdX as president. Zhang emphasized the importance of strengthening dYdX's competitive position to boost market share and deliver long-term value to its community and ecosystem. The decentralized exchange has experienced a significant decline in income over the past year. Data from DefiLlama indicates that dYdX's earnings for the second quarter of 2025 were $3.2 million, marking an 84% drop from the $20.1 million earned during the same period in 2024. Additionally, the platform's total value locked has decreased to $312 million as of Wednesday, down from $1.1 billion in October 2021. In October 2024, dYdX laid off 35% of its workforce, with the then-CEO citing the need for a new strategic direction. The updated roadmap from dYdX focuses on incentives, efficiency, and user experience. The partner fee share program is designed to allow volume and liquidity contributors to earn up to 50% of protocol fees. Scale and TWAP orders are expected to provide traders with more execution options, enabling multiple limits across a price range and breaking large trades into smaller, timed intervals. The designated proposers feature aims to reduce processing times by assigning specific validators, thereby decreasing latency. The roadmap also introduces new user-facing features, such as social logins, direct USDC–DYDX swaps through an Osmosis integration, and customizable fee tiers that promise reduced trading fees. Meanwhile, the decentralized finance sector has seen significant growth in 2025. According to DefiLlama, the total value locked across all blockchains and ecosystems reached $158.2 billion on Thursday, up from $115.9 billion on January 1, representing a 36.5% increase year-to-date. Ethereum continues to dominate the DeFi landscape, accounting for $93.9 billion or 59.4% of the total on-chain value.
