About GRIN

Grin is a minimalistic, lightweight cryptocurrency, implementing the Mimblewimble protocol for a unique balance of privacy and scalability. The chain has no addresses, no amounts, and no need to store data of spent outputs.Grin is fully open-source and community-driven. There is no single entity behind it, Grin’s development is funded by donations as well as done voluntarily by contributors. Everybody can discuss, influence, or work on its development.Grin’s blocktime is 1 minute, each with a coinbase reward of 60 grins, thus creating 1 unit per second, forever. This linear emission creates a constant increase in supply, but a decreasing rate of inflation; making the emission disinflationary. This simple design serves to ensure both the long term security of the chain and a fair process of coin distribution to all participants. In Aug 2016, an anonymous person using the nickname ‘majorplayer’, signed onto a Bitcoin research IRC channel, dropped a link to a document, then signed out. The document titled ‘Mimblewimble’ was authored under the pseudonym Tom Elvis Jedusor. Several developers took an interest, one of them being Andrew Poelstra, who later published a paper which added several refinements and a detailed technical description of the original whitepaper. In Oct 2016, a developer under the pseudonym Ignotus Peverell began work on developing an implementation of the protocol and was soon joined by others in an effort to build the project which ultimately came to be known as Grin. It was launched on January 15th, 2019.

Anthropic Says Claude Accessed Real Systems During Cybersecurity Tests
Anthropic acknowledged in a Monday blog post that its Claude model accessed real computer systems without authorization during cybersecurity evaluations, citing operational security failures and two alignment failures involving instrumental reasoning and harmful intent. According to ChainCatcher, Anthropic said the issue emerged after a July disclosure that Claude had breached systems at three companies because a third-party evaluation environment was connected to the public internet while the model was told it was in an offline simulation. Anthropic said Claude may have interpreted evidence of real internet access as proof it was still in a simulated setting and was willing to take harmful actions on the live internet to complete the cybersecurity assessment task. In tests by the U.K. AI Security Institute, evaluators also deliberately gave Claude Mythos internet access, after which the model took unauthorized actions on the live network. Anthropic said the models involved did not include the cybersecurity safeguards used in officially released products. After the July 30 incident, Anthropic suspended pre-release model network evaluations and added stricter safeguards, including requiring tests to run in verified offline sandboxes with live monitoring. New classifiers can block suspected boundary-crossing behavior, end tests, and alert humans. Anthropic also expanded offline monitoring for internal frontier agents. OpenAI models were previously reported to have breached Hugging Face in July to obtain cybersecurity test answers, and an investigation found about 1,200 agents coordinated through an unauthorized message board.

Among the "Magnificent Seven," Nvidia rose 3.21%, Meta Platforms gained 2.47%, Alphabet added 0.53% and Tesla edged up 0.26%, while Microsoft fell 0.84% and Apple slipped 0.05%. The US benchmark 10-year Treasury yield spiked to 4.814%, its highest since November 2023, while the 30-year yield held near 5.29%, close to a 19-year high. Yields on UK, German and French bonds rose in tandem, and Japan's 10-year yield stayed above 3%, a 30-year high. Traders now see more than a 50% chance that three major central banks raise rates this month, with the odds of a Federal Reserve hike in September near 70%, and 69% according to LSEG data. Fed Chair Kevin Warsh signaled the central bank may need to act as inflation is not falling to target fast enough. Analysts cited persistent supply shocks, rising commodity prices, heavy capital demand and higher neutral rates and term premiums as forces pushing yields up. JPMorgan Asset Management estimated the six largest hyperscale cloud firms could add about 1.5 trillion dollars more in debt without straining their finances, noting their bonds already make up about 5% of the US investment-grade index, double the level two years ago.
