According to PANews, stablecoin issuer Tether has announced updates to its transition plan for five legacy blockchains: Omni Layer, Bitcoin Cash SLP, Kusama, EOS, and Algorand. Over a year ago, Tether revealed its intention to cease redemption and freezing of USDT tokens on these blockchains starting September 1, 2025, gradually ending support. In response to feedback from the communities of these discontinued blockchains, Tether has adjusted its approach and will not freeze smart contracts on these networks. While users can still transfer tokens between wallets, Tether will halt direct issuance and redemption of tokens on these blockchains. Consequently, these tokens will no longer receive official support like other Tether tokens. Tether remains committed to ensuring a smooth transition and will continue collaborating with the community to maintain transparency and clarity throughout the process.

According to Foresight News, Swedish IT supplier Miljödata has been hit by a ransomware attack, affecting approximately 200 municipal departments, which account for about 80% of Sweden's 290 municipalities. The attack has rendered critical services such as HR, sick leave reporting, and work environment management systems inaccessible. The attackers have reportedly demanded a ransom of 1.5 bitcoins, equivalent to around $168,000, to prevent the disclosure of potentially stolen sensitive data, including medical certificates, rehabilitation plans, and workplace injury information. Miljödata CEO Erik Hallén confirmed the attack on August 25 and stated that the company is collaborating with external experts to investigate and restore the systems. As of now, no ransomware group has claimed responsibility for the attack, and Swedish police along with CERT-SE (Computer Emergency Response Team) are involved in the investigation.
