Tuttle Capital's Government Grift ETF Nears Launch Amid Political Ties

According to Cointelegraph, an exchange-traded fund (ETF) that monitors the trading activities of American politicians and entities linked to the U.S. President could be introduced soon. The Tuttle Capital Government Grift ETF (GRFT), proposed by Tuttle Capital Management earlier this year, is anticipated to launch as early as Friday. This follows the Securities and Exchange Commission's (SEC) decision to set October 3 as the effective date for Tuttle’s S-1 registration statement. The GRFT ETF is designed to analyze STOCK Act transaction reports, focusing on trades conducted by members of Congress and their spouses. Additionally, the fund aims to invest in companies with established connections to presidential influence. This includes businesses with executives or directors associated with the White House or those receiving commendations from U.S. President Donald Trump. The ETF plans to track between 10 and 30 stocks and ETFs, with position sizes reflecting both the extent of congressional trading and the perceived impact of presidential endorsement. Tuttle Capital Management, in its prospectus filing from late June, stated that the fund's strategy is based on the belief that political figures, particularly U.S. Congress members and individuals closely linked to the President, can sway market outcomes or possess information that significantly affects security pricing. Despite reaching out for further details, Cointelegraph did not receive an immediate response from Tuttle. The involvement of U.S. President Donald Trump in the cryptocurrency sector has been extensively documented and critiqued. Trump Media & Technology Group (DJT), a company associated with him, holds 15,000 Bitcoin (BTC) valued at $1.7 billion. Its subsidiary, Truth Social, has had spot crypto ETFs filed on its behalf. Additionally, American Bitcoin Corp (ABTC), a Bitcoin mining company, is publicly traded and backed by the Trump family. Trump is also linked to two memecoins named after him and his wife Melania, launched shortly before his inauguration. Tuttle Capital already manages several leveraged crypto exchange-traded products (ETPs) that aim to double the daily returns of cryptocurrencies like XRP, Solana (SOL), Litecoin (LTC), and Chainlink (LINK). Meanwhile, the SEC's recent approval of generic listing standards for faster crypto ETF approvals could lead to the introduction of several new crypto ETFs, expanding beyond the current offerings of spot Bitcoin and Ether (ETH) ETFs. Bloomberg ETF analyst Eric Balchunas noted that these standards have increased the likelihood of more spot crypto ETF approvals to 100%, as they render the 19b-4s and their 'clock' irrelevant, leaving only the S-1s awaiting a formal green light from Corp Finance.
