Aptos has announced the launch of a new privacy coin, 'Confidential APT,' which is pegged 1:1 with APT. According to Foresight News, the coin utilizes zero-knowledge proofs to conceal balances and transaction amounts while maintaining transaction verifiability. This feature will be officially available on Friday following a governance proposal that was nearly unanimously approved.
Sherry Xiao, a founding engineer at Aptos Labs, stated that the privacy coin aims to prevent competitors from tracking treasury movements and transaction strategies during on-chain business transactions. It also addresses the issue of employee salaries being permanently public on the blockchain, reducing the risk of users being targeted by wallet profiling or scams.
