EasyDNS has acknowledged its role in a temporary hijacking incident involving the ENS gateway eth.limo. According to NS3.AI, the attack targeted the wildcard DNS record that encompasses approximately 2 million .eth domains. The breach was executed through social engineering tactics at the registrar level. However, eth.limo reported that DNSSEC effectively blocked any malicious DNS responses, and there is no known impact on users. EasyDNS CEO Mark Jeftovic stated that this was the first successful social engineering attack against an EasyDNS customer in the company's 28-year history.
